Modular Piping

A technology that divides piping design data into modules for fabrication. We present the related patent applications and the registered patent for a piping kit manufacturing system.

  1. Division criteria

Divide segments around transport size, site access and installation sequence.

  2. Fabrication units

Organise pipes, fittings, joints and identification for each unit.

  3. Site connection

Check site tolerances and adjustment allowances, then review the connection sequence.

Technical components

The components below are as described in the patent filings.

  • Site information

Site spatial information and piping design data are used as inputs.

  • Module fabrication data

Piping design data is organised into fabrication data for each module.

  • Piping kit fabrication

The modular piping kit manufacturing system was registered as a patent on 8 December 2025.

Moving part of the site work into fabrication

Modular piping means fabricating pipes and fittings in set sections and connecting them on site. Off-site construction (OSC) moves part of the work usually done on site to a factory or other fabrication location. Dividing pipework into modules means reviewing transport size, tolerances at connections and room for adjustment on site together. The registered patent and related applications cover piping kits and fabrication data of this kind.

Site example

Dividing repeated plant room pipework into modules

An example covering fabrication and installation in a plant room where similar pump connections repeat. It does not describe completed fabrication or a shortened programme.

  1. Dividing sections

Pipework is divided into assemblies that can be transported. Module boundaries are set by reviewing equipment connections, site joint positions, the size of the delivery opening and lifting conditions together.

  2. Example fabrication records

For each module, record pipe lengths, fittings and valves, joint positions and an identification number. Drawings separate the factory-made parts from the parts adjusted to site dimensions.

  3. Site connection

Modules arrive in installation order, and reference points and connections are checked against each other. Where site conditions have changed, parts are not forced to fit; the change is reviewed and the fabrication records updated.

  4. Checks and handover

Dimension check sheets for each module, connection inspection items, the materials list and revised drawings are kept together. Test standards and transport and lifting methods depend on the actual design and site conditions.
